The EU-funded WILDHOPPER project is developing a heavy-duty multirotor drone for forest firefighting.
Every year approximately 3% of the surface of the Earth suffers wildfires, WILD HOPPER will be a complement to traditional means.
This platform can transport water that will be released and nebulized using patented technology. This is a more efficient an precise use of the water than the traditional way of simply dropping the water down by gravity at a certain speed. WILDHOPPER can also act at night without putting any lives at risk with a reduction in cost of ownership 5 to 10 times lower than hydroplanes or helicopters.

WILD HOPPER overcomes the limitations of traditional battery powered UAVs, thanks to the use of internal combustion engines.

Derived from multirotor platform dynamic capabilities, yielding a very high efficiency compared to traditional means.
WATER NEBULIZATION SYSTEM
The company has developed its own water mist jet creation technology to be used specifically on the firefighting operations, improving heavily the water usage.
DAY AND NIGHT OPERATIONS
WILD HOPPER allows reducing heavily the duration of the wild fires by allowing continuous aerial support to the extinguishing activities once the conventional aerial means (hydroplanes and helicopters) are set back to the base at night.
NO HUMAN LIFES AT RISK
Being an autonomous vehicle, WILD HOPPER does not put at risk human lives as platform management is done on a safe ground base.
FAN HOPPER TEST
Fan Hopper is a platform that has validated the attitude control system (EDFs system), which allows to keep the aircraft controlled in flight.
X-QUAD GROUND TESTING
X-QUAD is a test platform which validates one of the attitude control systems, allowing the use of combustion engines for the flights.
